Sainte Marguerite island is a small section of the Éstérel massif rising out of the sea: “A heaven of light, tranquility and cool breezes.”
Advise of access:
- By the " boat of Islands" (Compagnie Maritime Napouloise) from Port Napoule, (Opened from April till September, approximately 30 minutes)
To discover on the island Ste Marguerite:
- The Royal Fort Ancient memorial. The prisoners which occupied it made a lot of ink: the Iron mask, the Marshal Bazaine.
- The Museum of the sea, is situated in beautiful arched rooms of Roman origin.
It contains archaeological vestiges ligures, Greek, Arabic and Roman, found on the site and the close sea bed
- The beaches of the island
- A fitted out botanical Path which allows to identify the various sorts of pines, eucalyptus and the most varied plants.
- The ornithological Park, on the pond of Batéguier, where sea water and fresh water meet.
- You will discover the Mediterranean vegetation of the island by taking the network of paths which crosses it
