Heritage Days – Childhood Memories in Provence

Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September from 9:30 a.m. to 18:30 p.m.

What if you went back in time to rediscover the history of our town through the eyes of its children? For the 2026 Heritage Days, the Provençal Academy of Mandelieu offers you an exhibition dedicated to childhood in Provence in bygone days.

To be born and baptized in Provence

Come and discover a collection of hand-sewn newborn clothes, bonnets and layettes, showcasing the textile expertise of the era and its softness.
from the very first moments.

The pomp of baptism: Right after birth comes the time for celebration.
The exhibition will showcase magnificent christening gowns in tulle and fine lace, embroidered bonnets… which testify to the importance of this first major event
social and family event in the Provence of yesteryear.

Communion: A major step in family life

Adolescence: On the cusp of adulthood

Through objects related to early trades or village festivals, you will discover how the youth of Provence in the past gently entered the world of adults.

Between ink and chalk: Back to school

Who hasn't felt nostalgic for their school years?

Immersion: Parents and grandparents can introduce younger children to the world of grey smocks, authentic wooden desks, inkwells, and quills. A total immersion to compare school yesterday with school today!
