Hike in the Grand Duke

The Grand Duc forest is known for the Mimosa. Made up of thousands of golden yellow balls, the Mimosas cover the Tanneron hills with their golden color in winter. This family outing is ideal for all seasons.

From the car park (290m) cross the road to Tanneron (RD92) to use the DFCI Barbossi track (barrier) for 1.2km (GR) to a major crossroads (350m) equipped with an explanatory panel on the communal forest of Mandelieu. You will find a few picnic tables here.

Leave the GR to turn right (East, start of discovery trail - yellow) the Grand Duc trail which offers remarkable views of the bay of Cannes, the Lérins islands and the Siagne plain. Without taking into account two starters on the left, cross the track and, still on a path, descend among the large cork oaks which were fortunately able to resist the passage of the fires.

Arriving on a track, leave the discovery trail to turn right downhill (north) to a crossroads and continue to the left (south) along the Fenouillers track. Arrived at another junction, rise on the left (East) to reach a platform (reservoir) and take on the left (North) the DFCI track of the Grand Duc which goes up to the coast 316m.

Bypass the track by the pleasant "path of the cork oaks" which goes to the left. Arriving at a fork, turn right, to make a loop that will allow you to find the outward route. Follow the direction of Mandelieu by the DFCI Barbossi track to find the departure car park.
