Situated at only a few minutes from Mandelieu-La Napoule (only during the summer season), the archipelago of the Lérins Islands constitutes exceptional sites where conjugate in complete peace, nature, culture and relaxation. Indeed, in a protected idyllic frame, these real jewels of the “Côte d'Azur” offer a unique show illustrated as well by the rich botanical collection present as by the on-the-spot ruling historic ambient mystery…

 

So, the Sainte-Marguerite island, the biggest one, represents a real green lung to only some cable lengths of the coast ! With not less than 152 hectares of national forest, it extends over 3 kilometers and constitutes an ideal destination for a family escapade with its bird sanctuary, its Batéguier pond, its 22 kilometers of marked out paths and its numerous protected creeks. Furthermore, it shelters the Royal Fort, the old State prison strengthened by Vauban and who welcomed one of the most famous prisoners of the history: the Man in the Iron Mask ! The Museum of the Sea, as for it, occupies the oldest part of the fort and welcomes you all year round.

 

Its small neighbor, the Saint-Honorat island, is long of only 1 500 meters and 400 meters wide. Woody of pines, it shelters the famous monks abbey of Lérins. Indeed, rich in its historical heritage, the abbey was established in the Vth century by the Cistercian monk Honorat and constitutes since the Mecca of the Christian story ! Rich of 16 centuries of monastic life, the Saint-Honorat island is opened as well to the lovers of protected sites as to those in search of peace of mind and of spirituality. The Boat to Saint-Honorat island has to be taken from Cannes (all year long).
