The Corniche d'Or, a sinuous seaside road

Sinuous road connecting Mandelieu-La Napoule to Saint-Raphaël, the “Corniche d’Or” goes along the seaside and the Esterel Massif.

Built at the beginning of the XXth century on the initiative of the Touring Club de France, it constitutes one of the most beautiful roads of France, and travel it get a delight of every moment thanks to the exceptional panoramas it offers between the volcanic red rocks of the Esterel Mass and the blue of the Mediterranean Sea.

According to the plan of the railroad way, the road of the “Corniche d’Or” crosses diverse sea resorts such as Théoule-sur-Mer, le Trayas, Agay, le Dramont or still Anthéor, and becomes famous for its perfect symbiosis with the coast.

Indeed, considering the restless relief of the Alpes-Maritimes, the road of the “Corniche d’Or” does not still follow the sea at its zero level, and sometimes goes away from it, positioned in ledges at varied heights.

Very appreciated by the cyclists, especially during the Sunday exits, the peak is situated in the Esterel Massif, at 110 meters high near the “Pointe de la Galère”.
